Lorraine Barrett Dares to Wear it Pink!
posted on 23/10/2009

Cardiff South and Penarth AM Lorraine Barrett is encouraging her constituents to Wear it Pink on Friday 30th October.

Breast Cancer Campaign's mission is to beat breast cancer by funding innovative world class research to understand how breast cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure. Breast Cancer Campaign is daring everyone in the UK to wear an item of pink on Friday 31 October and donate £2 each to the charity to help beat breast cancer.

Last year over one and a half million people took part in wear it pink to help improve survival rates for the one in nine women who experience breast cancer during their lifetime. This recession busting fundraiser is affordable and easy to take part in, giving everyone the chance to help make a difference

To show her support Lorraine Barrett, this week took part in the Wear it Pink photocall at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay.

 Lorraine Barrett said:

"I am delighted to be supporting the Wear it Pink campaign again this year, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is such a worthwhile cause which will hopefully raise awareness of breast cancer and help to raise money so that we can continue in our mission to beat breast cancer. In Wales, over 2,400 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every year and over 670 women and about five men die from breast cancer every year. I would like to encourage everyone to take part and don an item of pink. Your support will really make a difference".
